BELIEFS AND DENOMINATION

CornerStone Baptist church is part of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).  We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message.  Please click here for a copy of those beliefs.



We are an independent church that cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Every Southern Baptist Church is completely independent.  There is no denominational control or hierarchy, as there is in most other denominations.  Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs.  For example:

            - Every Southern Baptist Church chooses its own pastor.

            - Every Southern Baptist Church owns its buildings and assets.

            - Every Southern Baptist Church determines its own programs.

            - Every Southern Baptist has a say in what our leaders do, say and spend the resources we               send.

Why then, do we affiliate with the SBC?

1.  It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their             commitment to the Bible as God‘s Word.  Unlike other groups, the SBC has no man-made             "creed".           The Bible is our only authority.

2.  It allows our church to participate in the largest missionary organization in the world.  Through our giving to the International and North American Mission Boards of the Southern Baptist Convention, we help support almost 10,000 missionaries in over 105 countries around the world including North America.
